Division History
The Thomas P. McCann Division 1 - Barnstable County was established in September/October 1998. The Division was named after our 1st President, a Dublin County native, following his untimely passing on May 27, 2003.
Since its inception, the Division has sponsored an Annual Golf Tournament and St. Patrick’s Dinner Dance, among many other charity fund raisers.
Sponsorship of a Cape Cod Saint Patrick’s Parade had always been a dream and ambition of our founding President. Tom’s dream finally became a reality as the Division became a major sponsor of the 2006 St. Patrick’s Parade with Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen O’Toole as Grand Marshal and the 2007 Parade with NHL Hall of Famer Bobby Orr as Grand Marshal. The Division intends to be a significant contributor to the success of future St. Patrick’s Parades on Cape Cod.
Scholarships and contributions to numerous charities, both local and in Ireland, will continue to be a major focus of the membership.
